The Marks of a Vital Church

Visitors are met with a smile and an outstretched hand from all the congregation as signs of welcome.

New persons are invited, and made to feel at home, in already-established groups.

Members and leaders speak positive words about the church and its programs, and they save their criticism for decision-making opportunities.

Sunday School teachers, leaders, and members call or visit absentees to tell them that they were missed.

Worship is seen as a group experience rather than a "presentation by the preacher."

Members are always on the lookout for newcomers and unchurched persons in the community, and takes the initiative in inviting them to the activities of the church.

There is a positive attitude of "We can do it!" rather than the negative attitude of "Let someone else do it."
